A beautiful poem by Nanao set to music especially for the Nanao Global celebrations! The band Myossãssu, from São Paulo, Brazil, set “Bellybutton” to music, a poem whose translation into Portuguese will appear in the book Galáxia Floresce na Primavera (currently available for pre-order at this link).
Myossãssu is formed by musicians Vitor Wutzki, Ela Kam and Bruno Iasi. The video was edited by Ela, with images recorded in Claudia Medeiros' apartment in Copan building, downton of São Paulo, where the song was recorded. The translation of Nanao's poem into Portuguese is by Felipe Melhado.
Bellybutton
(Nanao Sakaki)
The plants
Given life by minerals
Then give life to animals.
An animal called…
A man, you,
Stand with legs, eyes, nose & nipples.
A puppet, you
who work so hard
with two hand & a head.
When your navel starts laughing,
you are a song.
